St. Vincent de Paul of Des Moines is a non-profit, Catholic lay charitable organization, focused on supporting individuals who are facing economic, emotional, or spiritual difficulties. The organization offers a range of services aimed at addressing these challenges, including access to food and clothing, educational support, and job training programs, among other services offered. Our mission is guided by a commitment to compassion for those who struggle with issues such as poverty, health problems, or family-related concerns.

Who We Are
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL OF DES MOINES
Since being established in Des Moines in 1924, St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) has focused on assisting those living in poverty by removing obstacles in their journey toward self-sufficiency. The Des Moines Council operates four thrift stores, two social services departments, and an education center. SVdP employs more than 80 paid staff members and relies on many amazing volunteers.

News & Events

Each year, Conferences and Councils of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul host the Friends of the Poor® Walk, which raises funds and awareness for the Society’s work serving people living in poverty.

We would like to welcome everyone to participate in our annual Chip in Fore Charity golf event. All proceeds from this event go directly into keeping our healthy food pantries stocked all summer long.

Over our 100 years of dedicated service to our friends most in need, we have worked together to serve over 1,000,000 people suffering from one form of poverty or another (spiritual, emotional, relational, financial, etc.)
